THEME "LIVING TOMORROW"

Living tomorrow. What does that mean to you? Life in the past makes us change the way we live in the future. Today, we focus on 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) as society takes steps for a better future. During our EMT, we will highlight a few of these, so you can experience yourself how we already put those goals into action. In our beautiful city of Hasselt we’ll see, hear, taste and feel what these goals mean and how they are being implemented into our daily lives.

HOST CITY

The EMT 2022 conference will take place in Hasselt, the capital city of the province Limburg in Belgium. The city offers a wide range of – often hidden – possibilities for a more in-depth city trip. Shopping, pavement cafés, tasting jenever, taking walks, visiting museums, discovering restaurants, cycling through the green periphery, being pampered at the hotel, and so much more. When in Hasselt, it is best to take the time to really enjoy the city.

CONFERENCE HOTEL

The Radisson Blu hotel in Hasselt has been selected as the conference hotel for the EMT. It is the tallest building in the city and is ideally located in the city center, with an undergroud car parking, and a rooftop bar with a breathtaking 360° view over the city. The hotel has all the amenities you could wish for, you can enjoy a swim in the indoor pool, relax in the sauna, or even start the day in the fitness room.

Our ambassadors about the EMT

Back in 1978, at the European Conference in Antwerp, I launched the idea to bring together one chapter from every state of the European Union. It was the ideal occasion to meet like-minded people. Shortly after, the idea was born and in 1979 we organized the first EMT.

Gilbert Govaerts

JCI-senator and EMT-founder

The EMT has always been one of the best experiences I ever had in my JCI-career. Pretty sure that everyone that has ever been on an EMT will agree when I say that there is nothing that can beat the power of this international bunch of friends!

Sarah Lammers

JCI-senator and EMT-ambassador

I joined my first EMT in Reykjavik back in 2014. That was the ideal opportunity to meet new people from abroad and experience other cultures, food and traditions. Having joined each consecutive EMT since then, the EMT is really about friendship across borders!

EMT CoC director and EMT-ambassador
